USATF Foundation announced launch of "Run With Us!"
INDIANAPOLIS - The USA Track & Field Foundation is proud to announce the launching of “Run With US!” (RWUS!). A program to take place for kids during and after school, RWUS! surrounds fitness and goal setting to promote self-esteem and will be directed by Olympic athletes as teachers, mentors and role models. Foundation Executive Director Tom Jackovic and Chairman Bob Greifeld made the announcement Wednesday.

Quiller dies of cancer
2000 Team USA Olympic Games assistant coach and long-time University of Colorado and West Point track and field and cross country coach Jerry Quiller died Thursday after a five-year battle with multiple myeloma. He was 69.

Nixon named Athlete of the Week
INDIANAPOLIS – University of Arkansas freshman Gunnar Nixon has been named USA Track & Field’s Athlete of the Week after setting a world junior record in the indoor heptathlon over the weekend at the Razorback Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark., and reached an NCAA automatic-qualifying mark.

Jones back on top at U.S. Open
NEW YORK -- Lolo Jones made a successful return after an injury-plagued 2011 season and Jamaica’s Asafa Powell ran the fastest 50-meter time in the world since 2005 en route to winning Athlete of the Meet honors Saturday at the U.S. Open presented by Harris at Madison Square Garden. The two wins electrified a crowd of 5,844 as the Visa Championships Series officially kicked off for the 2012 indoor season.

USATF Board welcomes three new members
INDIANAPOLIS – USA Track & Field’s Board of Directors has welcomed athlete and activist Jackie Joyner-Kersee, sports attorney Eve Wright and network television executive Mickey Carter to its ranks. Wright and Carter assume independent seats, while Joyner-Kersee takes the board’s High Performance seat. Board member Steve Miller has been elected to the position of board vice chair.
