Attendance Fontaine, Grimes, Barber, Hawley, Graustein, Baiardi, Torrellas, Moyse, Kornacki, Gemske, Miller, Mongovan . The meeting was called to order at 7:10 P.M.
Motion to accept minutes with 2 corrections was moved by Peter Hawley and seconded by Yvonne Grimes. The corrections were from the LDR report. Per the suggestion of Bill Mongovan, LDR will form a committee, not a sub-committee, to meet at regular intervals; and that 7 names were recommended not chosen.

Treasurer- Bob Fontaine for Mark Young reported that the on-line payment tracking question was resolved with national. There was discussion regarding club renewal. It was decided to include information in the yearly mailing that will soon be done. 1 officer from the club needs to be a USATF member.
Memberships- Jim Barber reported there are 412 members to date for 2004.
AREA CHAIRPERSONS
LDR- Will Graustein reported that the 1st LDR committee meeting was last month.Minutes are posted on the web site. Issues for improvement wre discussed. The next meeting will be in March. The committee should be chosen by then. Relay rules and assigning tasks were the primary goals. Membership application will be revised. A sample of the 2004 form was passed around for suggestions.
Athlete’s Foot Hi-Tech- Alan McDougal
MASTERS- No report
ATHLETICS-Bill Mongovan stated the USATF indoor meet will be at Yale on Mar. 21st 2004. beginning @ 8:30 am. For youth.Entry fee is $2. Advance registration is available on-line. The adult section begins at 12 noon. Entry fee is $10. A master’s section (shotput, 55m. dash, 400m. and 1500m.) will be offered and awarded separately. Events offered for master’s will be rotated yearly to different events. Publicity statements will be sent by myself to area newspapers.
RACEWALK- Maryanne Torrellas reported that the Eastern Regional Mall Race will be held 2/15/04 at the Milford Post Mall at 10am. The Eastern Regional 5K Race will be 7/25/04.
DEVELOPMENT- no report
DISABLED-no report
OFFICIALS-Yvonne Grimes reported that there will be an officials training clinic on Mar.13th 2004 at Weaver H.S. in Hartford from 1pm.-5pm. A Lynx timing training session will also take place but space will be limited.
OLD BUSINESS
Appointments to committees
Bob Fontaine reported that the Master’s and LDR committees will operate together. Track and Field and Youth should be kept separate and possibly be headed by Bill Mongovan.
Incorporation- Will Graustein reported that from our incorporation last year we have 15 months to apply for tax-exempt status. We need to submit detailed financial report for last 3 years. He stated our lawyer will look into possibly being able to piggy-back on national’s non-profit status.
Web site items- Patty Miller reported she would like to include a web link for races when posting them. Please provide this when sending results. Also she is looking for interesting stories, pictures etc to go on the web site.
YOUTH SUMMER MEETS-Yvonne Grimes reported that she would again offer youth meets in Bethel this year.
NEW BUSINESS-Bob Fontaine stated that our next meeting will be devoted to strategies for development. He also brought up the fact that we need a T&F chair . Discussion followed that we need to promote master’s events more. ? that the LDR committee members may be able to help with this. Patty Miller will look into adding a few master’s events to her youth meet. The Nutmeg Games could possibly promote a master’s section. Jim Barber brought up that his Thursday night races at Bowen Field here in New Haven could offer master’s events. Will Graustein said he would put the info in with the yearly application.
EVENT SPONSORSHIP-Bob Fontaine stated this would be discussed at the April meeting.
