Competitive Club Renewal Deadline

The May 1 deadline is approaching for competitive clubs to renew their membership. As stated on the club application, competitive clubs must have their renewal turned in to their Association by May 1. Renewal application received after May 1st by the Association will be charged the $100 late fee. · Please note that the $100 late fee only applies to competitive clubs that are renewing. So new competitive clubs would not need to pay the $100 late fee if registering after May 1. · An e-mail was sent April 21 to all of the 2009 competitive clubs that have not yet renewed for 2010 reminding them about the May 1 deadline and the $100 late fee. In the e-mail, I mentioned to the clubs to disregard the e-mail if they have recently submitted their club application to their local Association and also mentioned that several Associations have implemented earlier renewal deadlines

Welcome to the 2010 membership year! I have a few important points to share as we start the new membership year. The following is from a memorandum received from the National office. Multi-Year Club/Organizational Memberships Clubs/Organizations can choose to register for membership up to 4 years at a time. As stated on the bottom of the Club Application, to maintain current contact information and to properly activate the liability insurance clubs and organizations who apply for multi-year membership must file a membership application, applicable coach/volunteer registration forms, and applicable club practice schedules each year. In addition, multi-year clubs that require 3rd party certificates of insurance must fill out the certificate request on the club practice schedule and pay the $15 certificate fee each year. Processing Memberships in a Timely Manner It’s important that Organizational/Club membership applications and forms are remitted to the National Office in a timely manner. Clubs will be denied the ability to enter or score in National and Regional Championships if they are not in the National membership database. Also delays in receipt of membership applications may result in processing delays for certificates of insurance and/or lack of coverage for practices. The above note is important to remember. Clubs will no longer be allowed to renew their membership on the day of the Regional or National competition. Past practices will no longer prevail.

The New Haven Age Group Track Club ended its Cross Country season on a high note. The teamed captured a 3rd place in the Bantam (9-10 yr) Girls division at the 2008 Junior Olympic Cross Country Championship. The event took placed in Mecanicicsville VA. Over 2500 plus athletes competitors were in attendance.

New Haven AGTC’s Bantam Girls team consisted of Danae Rivers, Leah Rivers, Erica Snape, Tiffany Snape, Lauryn Andrews, Emma Sellas and Dejanay Davis. The 9-10 year olds each did their part by pacing themselves through the 1.9 mile course at an amazing 12 minutes and 49 seconds pace average per teammate. It was good enough for a total team score of 97. The team just missed the silver place finished by 1 point. They were edged out by the Rain City Flyers out of Portland Oregon.

Sisters Danae and Leah Rivers lead the team by placing 2nd (11minutes 34 seconds) and 15th (12 minutes 16 seconds), respectively. Their efforts garnered them individual All American status as well.

Coach William Thompson said; “I'm pleased with the way the girls ran. They ran as a team. Every runner position was important. It was a tight competitive race for the medal places. The difference between 4th and 2 place were a slim 3 points.”
