MINUTES: Minutes from the meeting of Apr 12th were accepted

TREASURER: Mark Young reported that we have $13,338.90 in the IMA/Money Market and $5612.46 in the NOW.

MEMBERSHIP: Ed Parrot reported in Doug Black's absence. He reported that we have just under 1000 members, a bit less than last year at this time. Part of the shortfall may be in the fact that we have not received any memberships from the national office due to software and process problems on their part. &bsp;   We are also still looking for someone to take over the membership functions. Jim Barber suggested a membership committee to do various parts of it. He volunteered his office to do the data entry piece of it. We outlined the various membership functions, including: processing forms, depositing checks, printing membership lists and club rosters, answering questions, taking memberships at events, and processing club memberships.

SECRETARY: Ed Parrot reported that we have 50 sanctions - 5 or 6 ahead of last year. We also are having a problem getting insurance certificates in a timely manner from the national office.

ATHLETICS/YOUTH: Bill Mongovan indicated that we are still looking for a cross country junior olympics site. Kevin Grant reported on the planning for the Eastern Region Track Meet on 7/9. It is going well. There was discussion about how many rooms to reserve at Conn College, since we have to reserve and pay for them in a block. We decided on 40 rooms. These will go to the first 40 individuals from associations that submitted the $500 fee - the only ones NOT to have submitted their fees are: New England, Adirondack, Niagara, and Potomac. We will charge $10 per room (we are paying $20-$25) rather than make them free, because we don't want people to sign up and then not use the rooms.
    Rich Destefano reported on the extreme technique clinics from this winter. The one at Wilton had 75 people and the one at Yale had 200 people. In the future, Rich will charge a fee and get a trainer and have more clinicians. He obtained some sponsors, so much of the $1000 we paid for the clinics will now be going towards the Javelin Festival. He expects 300-400 participants plus the elite competitors. He has some TV coverage lined up as well. He needs an additional $1500 in funds to put on the meet. This puts us $900 over the budgeted amount for development, which also assumes some income from the meet. A motion passed to approve this additional allocation.
    The other clinic that we funded - at Bacon Academy - was very successful and they returned the seed money of $300 that we gave them.

DISABLED: Yvonne Grimes reported that the Cerebral Palsy Games will take place on 6/20 and 6/21 and the paraolympic trials will be on 6/22-6/24 in New London. There are enough officials signed up at this point. LDR: Ray Lapinski reported that we have had two more grand prix races - the April Showers 3.5MI and the Simsbury 5K. The winner of the April Showers Run, Martha Merz, will represent Connecticut at the Freihofer's national 5K champs in Albany in June. Also, the age-graded standings instituted this year are going over very well. Finally, after checking the record, Bill Borla missed the national over-60 15K record by 11 seconds at our 15K championships on 4/2.

OFFICIALS Bob Fontaine reported that we still have trouble getting enough officials for our meets.

NEW BUSINESS: Ray Lapinski reported that Sean Delaney, a long-time grand prix supporter and driving force behind the Mohegan Striders men's team, passed away of cancer. He moved that we donate $50 to a fund being started in his name - the motion carried.
