11-10-1999

ATTENDANCE: Doug Black, Rich Destefano, Marcia Fletcher, Bob Fontaine, Diana Gladden, Will Graustein, Yvonne Grimes, Peter Hawley, Ray Lapinski, Cindy Latham, Bill Mongovan, Gary Moore, Mark Paparella, Ed Parrot, Maryanne Torellas, Dan Williams, Mark Young

MINUTES: Minutes from the meeting of Sep 08th were accepted

TREASURER’S REPORT: Mark Young reported that our balances remain about the same - in good shape.

BUDGET: Bob Fontaine passed out a budget worksheet, which the meeting went over line by line. Several areas were broken down into more detail, as the group responsible for each line gave their budget requests. Bob will compile the results and present them at the next meeting for final approval/adjustment. Each person responsible for an expense item in the budget will submit a report on the proposed use of the expenses at the next meeting.

Ed Parrot handed out a spreadsheet he put together to assist in tracking income/expenditures vs. budget. He will work with Mark Young to complete the spreadsheet for 1998 and 1999, and to maintain it going forward. The spreadsheet will be adjusted to reflect the budget categories agreed upon today.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS: All of the current officers have expressed the desire to continue in their positions. Nominations were solicited from the floor, but there were no additional nominations. The following slate of six officers was elected unanimously:

President: Bill Mongovan
1st Vice-President: Ray Lapinski
2nd Vice-President: Bob Fontaine
3rd Vice-President: Jim Barber
Treasurer: Mark Young
Secretary: Ed Parrot

CONVENTION: Ed Parrot read the guidelines that the Convention Funding Task Force developed last year. Will Graustein moved that the two new committee chairs - Cross Country and Development - be added to the list of automatic delegates. After some discussion, Ray Lapinski moved to table the motion until next September, when these committees will have been in place for a year.

Cindy Latham asked for funding to attend the convention as the Officials Rep to the Athlete's Advisory Committee. The group decided to vote on delegates for the convention and then look at Cindy's request. The following delegates were selected automatically by virtue of their position:
Bill Mongovan, Ed Parrot, Ray Lapinski, Mark Young, Bob Fontaine, Maryanne Torellas

Six individuals were interested in the remaining five delegate positions, so a secret ballot was taken, with the following five individuals being selected:
Jim Barber, Jim Gerweck, Marcia Fletcher, Gary Moore, Danny Williams

It was then determined that the sixth place candidate, Cindy Latham, is a member of USATF Metropolitan, not USATF/CT, and therefore could not be a delegate and was not eligible for funding from USATF/CT.

NEXT MEETING: Nov 10 at 8:15 PM at Southern CT State University
