USATF MINUTES

4-8-09

 

The meeting was called to order at 7:30pm

In attendance:  Bob Fontaine, Yvonne Grimes, Will Graustein, Jim Barber, Bob Gemske,  Joyce Baiardi, Peter Hawley,  Ron Daniel and Marianne Daniel

Minutes- Motion to accept the minutes  from 2-11-09 was proposed by Bob Gemske and seconded by Peter Hawley.

REPORTS

President- Bob Fontaine reported that SCSU wants to increase our liability coverage for our outdoor championship from $1,000,000 to $5,000,000. Alan McDougal is looking into this.

Membership- no report

Treasurer- Bob Gemske reported that our savings and checking accounts have $45,069.Income from our indoor meet was $2,503. This approximately equaled our expenses.

 

COMMITTEES

 

LDR- Will Graustein reported that the Road Race Grand Prix was started with the Greater Hartford ¼ marathon  April 4th. Next will be the 10K at Lake Compounce in May. Soliciting for bids for the 2010-2011 season has begun. His report from the national convention included a modification on headphones during competition. They will be banned from championships and up to the discretion of the race director at all others. Also the age for masters is now 35 and up.

Youth- no report

Officials- Yvonne Grimes stated that we had 20 officials at our indoor meet. Having officials-in-training work with other officials worked out well. 63 of our CT officials have now renewed their certification.

Master’s- no report

Race walking- Marianne Daniel reported that the 3K mall race went well.  There  were 18 participants from 8-85 years old. Results are posted on our website. There will possibly be a youth clinic coming up. Maybe at our next track meet in June. Ron Daniel reported he held a level 1 clinic in Texas for judges.

Sanctions- no report.

Web Master- no report

 

NEW BUSINESS

Bob Fontaine discussed our USATF/CT outdoor meet set to take place on June 20th. The JO and open championships will possibly be combined, alternating events. He also discussed the possibility of having a throws and/or jumps meet.

OLD BUSINESS

Bob Fontaine reported that our indoor  championship meet went well. Pre-registration has increased. There were some problems that still have to be worked out. There were a lot of out of state throwers and pole vaulters this year.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 pm

The next meeting will be May 13, 2009.
