USATF MINUTES

4-14-10

 

The meeting was called to order at 7:30pm

In attendance:  Bob Fontaine, Bob Gemske, Yvonne Grimes, Joyce Baiardi, Will Graustein Peter Hawley, Marc Davis, Maryann Daniel, Ron Daniel, Brent Stratton, Brian Williams, Sasha Benjamin, Marvis Brown and Bill Mongovan

Minutes- Motion to accept the minutes was proposed by Peter Hawley and seconded by Maryanne Daniel.

REPORTS

President- No report

Membership- no report.

Treasurer- Bob Gemske reported that we presently have $68,219 in our two accounts. Our indoor meet netted $2,775. Expenses were $3,465.

COMMITTEES

LDR- Will Graustein reported that the Road Race Grand Prix started 3/7 with the 5K in New Haven. The 2nd race was the Hartford Track Club’s ¼ marathon. They had 479 finishers. At the end of May will be the Delaney Dash in Old Saybrook. The 2010 schedule is now available

Will spoke of his meetings attended at the convention. He discussed the issue of athletes crossing over state borders to join other associations. Bob Fontaine said he would write to national about our disagreement on this.

Youth-  no report

Officials- Yvonne Grimes stated our indoor meet was well attended. We had a number of new officials.

Master’s- Peter Hawley stated that there would be an LDR meeting on 4/28 in West Hartford.

Race walking- Maryann Daniel reported that there will be a clinic  for anyone interested on 4/17 @ 9am and 5/4 @ 6:30 pm in Clinton. Further info will be posted on our website.

Sanctions- Alan McDougal reported that we have 20 races sanctioned so far this year. There will probably be the same number sanctioned as last year.

Web Master- Brian Williams reported that our indoor meet and all LDR race results have been posted on our site.

 

OLD BUSINESS

None

 

NEW BUSINESS

Awards payments- Issues have arisen regarding prize money distribution. It was proposed to have winning clubs possibly attend a board meeting to collect payment. An awards distributor is also needed at our meets.

On line registration- Bill Mongavan discussed various issues with regard to on line registration. There is a question about having to use this at the JO’s . There are concerns that there is no direction from national on this implementation.

Bethel High School track- USATF/CT has accepted the Bethel High School track and storagebuilding project as the representing non-profit agency. Verdi Construction of Bethel will be retained by USATF/CT as the construction manager at risk.
