Move to accept the minutes with the correction that national is providing officials only  with insurance was proposed by Jim Barber and seconded by Peter Hawley.

REPORTS

President- Bob Fontaine stated that Bob Gemske, as treasurer, now has a new bank account with Souvreign Bank. A check card was included. A corporate American Express account was opened for Ron Daniel to enable background checks.

Bob Fontaine also reported our indoor meet grossed $1,730. Pre-entries were mostly out of state and master’s athletes. There were 45 out of 135 on-line entries.

Membership- Jim Barber reported that we have 904 members at this point which is good for this early in the year.

Treasurer- Marc Davis for Mark Young reported that our savings account has $30,396.37 and our checking has $11,265.93.

COMMITTEES

Officials- Bob Fontaine for Yvonne Grimes stated that our official’s clinic on 4/6 was well attended. Feedback was positive. It was proposed that we may try to do an event specific training where the individual would learn an event and then work a meet directly following in that area.

LDR-  Will Graustein stated that the first race of the Grand Prix was held on 4/5 in Hartford. There were 311 finishers, 120 USATF club members. The next race is 5/25 with a 10K race a t Lake Compounce.

At the last LDR meeting , a motion was passed stating that USATF membership will only be offered at the first 2 races this year and then will have to be done on-line.

Master’s-  Peter Hawley  reported that the Hartford program is having trouble attracting elite athletes to their events.

Racewalking- Maryanne Daniel stated that their 3K indoor championship took place on 2/17 in the CT Post mall. Results are posted on our website. There may be a race walk clinic in May. Time and place will again be posted on the website. Her convention report included her attendance at all general sessions, official’s general sessions as well as race walk and development meetings. Maryanne has been selected to officiate at the Olympic trials , was selected to be head coach for the US race walk team going to the championship in Russia in May and was elected to the IAAF technical officials committee.

NEW BUSINESS

Our outdoor meet is June 22nd. There will only be pre-entry for JO’s. As last year JO’s will be in the morning and open athletes in the afternoon. It was proposed by Jim Barber that if JO athletes wish to run with the open athletes they will not be able to score with JO’s. This was agreed upon. Bob Fontaine said he would develop an entry form and get it to Patty Miller to post on the website. He will also order bibs and arrange the contract with SCSU. Prize money will remain the same.

Bob stated that last year’s meet was well covered by officials. Not all volunteers stayed for the whole day. It was also thought that age verification done ahead of time would expedite registration.
