Attendance:

called to order at 9:00 P.M. Motion
to accept minutes by Bob Fontaine, seconded by Yvonne Grimes. AGENDA:
President- Bill Mongovan distributed a
tentative slate of officials for the USATF/CT board, coming up for election
in Nov. He himself will not be running for the office of president again. Yvonne
Grimes nominated Bob Fontaine for president. The motion was seconded by Dick
Straway. Bob accepted the nomination. Any other nominations can be accepted by
the day of voting (Nov. 12th). Mailing to the membership will be done
30 days prior to the election per the by-laws. Jim
Barber nominated Yvonne Grimes for 1st
vice-president. The motion was seconded by Dick Straway. Yvonne accepted
the nomination. Bob
Fontaine nominated Maryanne Torrellas for 2nd vice-president. She
declined. Yvonne Grimes nominated Bill Mongovan for that seat and it was
seconded by Bob Fontaine. Bill accepted. Mark
Young stated he would again run for treasurer and myself, Joyce Baiardi would
run for secretary. Vice-President-
no report Treasurer-
Young reported that the IMA account has $10,067.78 and the NOW account
$9,782.50. There is about $5,000 in outstanding checks. Memberships-
Barber reported that there are now 1203 current members. He brought up the issue
of the lost revenue when athletes register through national. He will look into
this with them and report back to us. There was a lengthy discussion on
increasing the membership fee. Bob Fontaine moved to increase adults to $20.00.
Mark Young seconded. The motion was passed with one abstention. Mark Young
proposed to increase the youth membership fee. After much discussion Jim Barber
moved to increase the annual fee to $12.00. Will Graustein seconded. The motion
passed 9 to 1. Web
site items- no report. Budget
items- Bob Fontaine presented the budget from the previous year and spoke of
need to work on budget items after the next meeting. He brought up the
possibility of increasing the sanction fees as a source of more income for the
association. Incorporation-
Mark Young reported that the by-laws have been accepted. Our financial
statements need to be submitted to national. Jim Barber offered to hold a level
1 coaches training class which is part of nationals requirements. Constitution
update- No report Convention-
Dec. 2nd in Greensboro N.C. There was a discussion on criteria for
delegates. Fontaine, Grimes, Mongovan and Barber have already registered. Young,
Straway, Torrellas, Lee Chase and Roy Lapinski are also considering going. AREA
CHAIRPERSONS LDR-
There was a group discussion whether to still grant prize money for the Grand
Prix as this can be a major expense for the association. Will Graustein reported
that his group has not yet voted on the decrease of number of races from 9 to 7.
The first of 4 cross country Grand Prix races was Oct. 5th. The youth
cross country meet will be Nov. 16th. MASTERS-
No report ATHLETICS-Bill
Mongovan stated the USATF indoor meet will be at Yale on Mar. 21st
2004. The USATF outdoor meet will possibly be July 18th 2004. The
outdoor JOs will be June 19th (tentative) and regionals June 26 and
27. YOUTH-No
report RACEWALK-Maryanne
Torrellas reported that there would be a 10K championship on Oct. 26th. DEVELOPMENT-
No report DISABLED-Yvonne
Grimes reported that Dick Straway has accepted the position to represent
disabled athletes for the association. OFFICIALS-Yvonne
Grimes reported that there would be an officials training class on Mar.13th
2004. OLD
