MINUTES: Minutes from the Annual Meeting of Oct 13th were accepted

DEVELOPMENT: Rich Destefano spoke about plans for clinics in the javelin and High jump. He introduced Sean Mahon, who will be doing high jump clinics. He is forming a subcommittee to help him organize these clinics. The first clinic will be the week after Christmas, for coaches and athletes. Doug Black will check if the clinics can be covered under club insurance.

BUDGET: Bob Fontaine moved that we accept the budget as proposed at the last meeting, with one change from LDR to correct an inaccuracy. The motion passed unanimously. Ed Parrot handed out an updated version of the financial spreadsheet he put together to assist in tracking income/expenditures vs. budget. He also handed out Check Request and Deposit Ticket forms. Going forward, all request for checks and all deposits need to be assigned to a cost number using these forms.

ATHLETICS: Bob Fontaine moved that we seek to host the East Region track meet again on July 9th. Jim Barber suggested a subcommittee to handle it. It looks like we may have a problem with using Southern due to construction, so Bill will look into using Yale.

WEB SITE: Ed Parrot agreed to add a youth area to the web space we currently have on www.hitekracing.com. In the next club mailing, he will request all youth clubs to send him information to put on the site.

YOUTH: Doug Black voiced concern about bathrooms and food at Junior Olympic cross country, which were problems last year. There was quite a bit of disagreement about what is or isn’t needed at the event.

OFFICIALS: Bob Fontaine indicated that CT will host the paraolympic trials in 2000 and officials will be needed.

RACEWALKING: Maryanne Torellas reported that a 10K Track race walking championship was held on 10/16 and had 22 entries. A 20K was held concurrently, resulting in an Olympic trials qualifier.

MEMBERSHIP: Doug Black indicated that we have 31 members so far for 2000. There may be problems with cards being mailed from national, so we will have to wait and see.

LDR: Ray Lapinski reported that the meeting to decide the grand prix schedule for the next two years will be on december 8th at Southern.

NEXT MEETING: Feb 9 at 8:15 PM at Southern CT State University
