CT Youths take 1 and 3rd @ the
Prestigious NSIC
Kellie
Davis and Medinah Nabadukka from the New Haven Age Group
Track Club represented CT very well at the National Scholastic Track
and Field Championship, in New York last month.
The talented duo from CT. ran personal bests in the 7th/8th
grade division of the mile run. Kellie’s
time of 5:14:56 was also good enough for a new meet record.
Medinah’s time of 5:15:70 earned her a 3rd placed
finished. This year’s
7/8grade division had talent from as far as Florida and Missouri.
New Haven Age Group Track Club Coach, Bill Thompson said: “This
event allowed Kellie and Medinah to gain some valuable experience.”

RESULTS
After
advancing through the state and regional qualifiers the past few weeks,
three teams from the South Windsor Sports Group trekked to the USA Track
and Field National Junior Olympic Cross Championships in Spokane WA on
Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006. The annual event sponsored by the USATF was held
this year at the Plantes Ferry Sports Complex where 3k, 4k and 5k course
were carved out of the four inches of snow. With the temperature at 35
degrees and the weather conditions worsening, Kyle McCartney ran as an
individual qualifier in the Midget Girls division and finished the 3km
course in 12:21 for 113 place overall. In the next race, the South
Windsor Sports Group Youth Girls team started in a snow shower and ran
to a 15th place finish out of 20 teams in a crowded 240 runner race over
the 4km course with Emily Anderson (101-16:26), Julia Hickey
(117-16:36), Andie Earwaker (132-16:48), Liz Knapp (144-17:01), Fiona
Coleman (151-17:06) and Caitlin O'Connor (230-19:10). The winner was
Kelly Robinson of the Ric Rojas Team in a time of 14:13.
The South Windsor Intermediate Girls team started and finished their
race in a cold rain as Katherine Fitton ran to a strong 7th place in
18:48 for the 5km course as the team places sixth of eleven teams.
Fitton was followed by Katherine Beam (36th-19:37), Andrea Walsh
(58-20:18), Erica Forzley (64-20:27) and Lisa Sander (127-22:51). The
race winner was Jacque Taylor of Santa Rosa Express in a time of 18:10.
The South Windsor Intermediate Boys Team also competed in the cold rain
over the 5km course to finish in 13th place. Leading the way for the
team was Chris Athas (85-17:43) followed by Chris Duclos (90-17:47),
Matt Swan (98-17:55), Matt Velasquez (117-18:03) and Brody Secore
(164-19:21). The race winner was Ryan Prentice of Federal Way in 16:01.
