Kennedy, Livingston Win Mountain/Ultra Championship
Morgan Kennedy of Middletown and Deb Livingston of Bolton each won the USATF-CT Mountain/Ultra Running Championship on Sunday, October 23rd at the Bimbler’s Bluff 50k in Guilford. Kennedy won in a course-record time of 4:19:21 while Livingston was the first USATF-CT female across the line in an impressive 5:50:26.
The race is advertised as a 50k (31 miles), though measured closer to 32 or 33 miles, but that didn’t stop the competitors from having a great day out on the course. Kennedy outdistanced his nearest opponent by 12 minutes, maintaining an 8:20 pace throughout the day. Livingston was the second overall female, coming in 21st place among all competitors. The first Mountain/Ultra Championship for USATF-CT in five years, the field did not disappoint with a sell-out crowd of 150 runners.
